I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while, and I’m so glad I finally did. What a story! I am a sucker for sister stories, having two sisters of my own, and this one hit me harder than most. No, I’ve never had to help my sisters to the extent Korede does for Ayoola, but I know all about supporting the people you love the most, feeling conflicted about their choices, yet still fighting to protect them from the inevitable consequences.

Korede is a nurse, responsible and hard-working, caring for both her mother and her sister, Ayoola, after the death of their father. But there’s a problem, and it’s getting worse… Ayoola has killed her third boyfriend and needs Korede to help her cover it up again. She does because she loves her sister, even if at the same time she’s a bit envious of her sister’s beauty and the way she always seems to get her way on everything. As if all that weren’t hard enough, Ayoola visits Korede at work and captures the eye of the man of her dreams, Tade. What is Korede to do? Will she allow her sister to steal the man she loves, which might lead to murder #4, or will she enable Ayoola as she’s always done before?

This was a short novel and so engaging I probably could have read it in one sitting, but I forced myself to go slower to savor the drama, mystery, and suspense. I loved this novel, even the ending which I know was contentious for some readers. I wasn’t sure which way Korede would go right up until the end, and while her choice was maybe not optimal it made sense for her character.

I will definitely be recommending this novel to everyone I know and looking forward to reading more from the fabulous Oyinkan Braithwaite!

5/5 stars!
